Capitalist Realism

I am an example of one who lives in the soft narcosis; a veteran of too many years of reflexive impotence.

Those who have inherited a hard-on for Ford and Taylor may condemn me as “lazy”, but I am the face of the world they created. I am the nihilistic husk that is left when bodies are manufactured as centers of production and consumption.

The truth is the game was rigged from the start.

Nothing is more cliche than an appeal to the heart. We know they’ve been bought long ago.

Since falling in- who knows when?- I’ve never left this anhedonic lassitude, though I think I might have tried.

Laying on the floor allowing the lofi hip-hop beats to relax/study to to wash over me,

and puffing out foul tasting fumes from a metal wand of sticky incomplete release,

I no longer hope the notes and chemicals can lift me out of my head.

I no longer struggle to leave the waking sleep, because my body is too tired.

Instead, as a full time connoisseur of memes, a VR Queen of interpassivity,

I hope only to have pleasant dreams.
